About the BIO
ToolBar
The BIO ToolBar lets you conveniently search
six different databases including the Biomedical NewsAnalyzer,
which is a fully searchable, on-line database containing all press
releases from all companies in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology,
bioinformatics, diagnostics, medical device, equipment, drug delivery,
and contract research and manufacturing industries and the Biomedical
IndustryAnalyzer, a directory of over 4400 companies in these
sectors
These are the
database available for you to search:
• Biomedical NewsAnalyzer
• Biomedical IndustryAnalyzer
• PubMed
• World Patents
• SEC Edgar
• Google
How do I select which database I want to search in?
To the right
of the ToolBar there is a drop down list with the choices: NewsAnalyzer,
IndustryAnalyzer, Pubmed, World Patents, SEC Edgar and Google.
How do I search the proprietary Biomedical NewsAnalyzer Database?
First, select
this database from the drop down list. You can search the last
twelve months worth of press releases issued by over 4000 biomedical
companies. Select a date range, and combine this with a Content Category, Clinical Area and specific
words or phrases, and hit the Search
button.
How do I search the proprietary Biomedical IndustryAnalyzer Database?
First,
select this database from the drop down list. Enter the first
few letters of the Company name, and click on Search. Select the company you want
and click on Show company information.
How do I search the other public databases?
First select
the database you want. Then type in the word or phrase you want
to use. Then press Search.
Does the ToolBar create a history of my searches?
Yes. When you
change from one database to another the history is preserved.
You must use the drop-down arrow to find previously used words
and phrases.
Can I download the ToolBar onto multiple computers?
Yes. However,
the ToolBar is designed to be used by one person with a unique
user name and password.
Will the ToolBar work with all computers?
Almost. The
ToolBar technology works with PCs (Internet Explorer), not with
Macs.
